The Twelve Days of Christmas, The Real Cost

The Twelve Days of Christmas

A partridge in a pear tree,
Two turtle doves,
Three French hens,
Four calling birds,
Five golden rings,
Six geese a-laying,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Eight maids a-milking,
Nine ladies dancing,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Eleven pipers piping,
Twelve drummers drumming.

Ever wish you could buy all that for your loved one? Well, it’s not priceless as the commercial likes to say. In fact a financial group has been keeping track of the cost since 1984.

Overall the cost to purchase all twelve gifts in 2009 is $21,465.56. That is a 1.8% jump from 2008 which isn’t a bad jump. Of course I can think of things much wiser to spend my money on than this. If you get the itch to spend that money, please think about donating it to a needy charity instead.

Happy Holidays!
