To Listen You Must Be Silent

Posted on Updated on

I was talking with someone last week about interpersonal skills. We came to a topic that made them get up, walk to a whiteboard in the room. On that whiteboard they wrote the word LISTEN. This person then started writing another word underneath Listen, that word was SILENT. He drew lines from the letters in Listen, to the corresponding letter in Silent to drive the point home. I have pondered this thought all weekend trying to come to some great epiphany, but I really can’t add anything to it.

To Listen, you must be Silent.
