Dropbox just changed it’s Terms of Service (TOS) to match all the other major online services including Google to allow the government access to your files with a subpoena.
From the Dropbox updated TOS:
So, should we worry? No, they are just updating to what US law states and what all cloud computing services already are doing. Check your Gmail or Google account TOS, it’s in there. I have nothing to hide, so I don’t care. I use Google, I use Dropbox and I’m not going to stop just because they changed a part of the TOS that only affects someone that is doing something illegal. If you are so concerned about the security of your data you can use TrueCrypt to create an encrypted volume in your Dropbox folder and use it to secure your data.
If you aren’t hiding something, don’t worry, give the paranoid gene a rest.
